Sackville Construction's Role
Sackville Construction Ltd was contracted to provide specialist brickwork services for this major refurbishment project. Our scope of works focused specifically on brickwork alterations and the creation of structural openings throughout the development.
We worked as specialist subcontractors to main contractor Buxton Building Contractors, collaborating alongside numerous other trades and contractors involved in this complex, multi-faceted project.
Our specialist brickwork expertise was essential for creating the new openings required to link buildings, form new entrances, and facilitate the internal remodelling works across the various buildings.
Specialist Brickwork Alterations
The Newhaven Health Hub project required extensive brickwork alterations throughout the various buildings being refurbished. These alterations were essential for transforming the former retail and existing facilities into modern healthcare and wellbeing spaces.
Brickwork alterations involve modifying existing brick structures to accommodate new layouts, functions, or requirements. For the Newhaven project, brickwork alterations were needed throughout the development to create the layouts required for GP surgeries, the pharmacy, fitness facilities and creative workspace.
Our team worked closely with structural engineers to achieve safe, compliant alterations that met all building regulations and structural requirements.
Creating Structural Openings
A significant element of our work involved creating structural openings throughout the development. These openings were essential for forming new entrances, creating links between buildings, and providing access routes for the integrated healthcare facility.
For the Newhaven project, various openings were required, including a new entrance in the former Co-op building providing shared access to Quayside Medical Practice and Seahaven Swim & Fitness, a new link between the former Co-op building and the existing Seahaven Swim and Fitness Centre, openings to create improved layouts within the GP surgeries, and access points for the new pharmacy and creative workspace.
The new link between the former Co-op building and the existing Seahaven Swim and Fitness Centre required particularly careful execution. Our brickwork expertise allowed these critical connections to be formed safely and professionally.
Working as Part of a Larger Team
The Newhaven Health Hub project demonstrates the importance of effective collaboration on large construction projects. Our role required close liaison with Buxton Building Contractors' site management team, attending site meetings, adhering to health and safety protocols, and meeting programme milestones.
